    AS my partner Katie and I watched the sun slowly set behind the crest of the majestic Cairngorm peaks from our outdoor hot tub, it was hard not to be blown away by the moment. After a drive through a long winding single track road, filled with blind summits and narrow turns, we’d arrived at our destination and what a place it was. Just a couple of hours from Glasgow and a few miles north of the small town of Kirriemuir, Angus, sits the stunning Glen Clova hotel.

    LYING in what had to be the largest bath I’ve ever seen, with a glass champagne, I thought  — can it get much better than this? The answer was no — not when I was cocooned in luxury at Rocpool Reserve, a striking and lovingly restored Georgian mansion in Inverness, with stunning views of the River Ness. After a wet and windy drive up the A9, my partner Katie and I stepped through the door and instantly felt welcomed by the  lovely staff who guided us to our suite, handily located next to the bar.
