A Lincoln Sunday league football manager will be remembered in a memorial game. Steve Cawte, the former Hykeham Town manager and vice-chairman, died last summer. Lincoln City dinted Huddersfield Town’s Sky Bet League One play-off hopes with a tight win by a goal to nil. The Imps struck in the first-half, with Reeco Hackett tapping the ball home at the back past following a neat flick on of a Tom Bayliss corner from Adam Jackson. Huddersfield, under the interim charge of club legend Jon Worthington, were lacklustre in the final third. Their attacks broke down repeatedly, with star striker Joe Taylor a passer-by for much of his return to Lincolnshire.

“He came onto the pitch and swung for my face." This is what happened to Tim Hughes, who was attacked at an under-17s game in Lincoln. “Thankfully I was able to get my arm up and he just knocked me over, rather than connecting with my cheekbone,” he said. The son of one of the managers in the game rushed onto the field after being ordered to leave the ground due to verbal abuse. The 41-year-old managed to avoid the punch, and filed a complaint to the police as the game was being filmed.

Tyler Walker has had a torrid time since returning to the Imps, being blighted by injuries and now sent out on loan ahead of the end of his contract. The striker will leave Lincoln in the summer, after making just eight appearances across this and last season.

Lincoln City were impressive in victory over Bristol Rovers, with consecutive home wins secured by the Imps. Jovon Makama opened the scoring with a driving effort, before Tom Bayliss stunningly netted directly from a corner and James Collins curled a beauty beyond the reach of Jed Ward. Makama added his second after the hour mark, laying the groundwork for his hat-trick sealing goal with just ten minutes left of the game.
