The 2025 CFL Draft is less than a week away. If you’re around CFL facilities this week or on a conference call with CFL decision makers, the last checks, the last evaluations, and the last mock drafts are being made from all nine teams to prepare themselves for what is ahead on Tuesday. The teams will have everyone laid out on draft boards, pushing a player up based on a favourable interview or reference. A player will move down based on any concerns that popped up during the CFL Combine.

The Montreal Alouettes are coming into the new season with a new starting quarterback and that is by far the biggest change from last year. General manager Danny Maciocia has done a great job of keeping his core group happy as they didn’t lose too big in free agency, which meant they didn’t have to do a lot of work in free agency either. I know I’m not alone when I say this, but I can’t remember a CFL Draft with this many draftable Canadian quarterbacks. From top prospects to potential diamonds in the rough, CFL general managers will ponder if or when to draft a quarterback on April 29. Usually it’s one or two… maybe three. Sometimes there aren’t any quarterbacks in the conversation to be drafted.

It’s a chance for the best young Canadian prospects to showcase their skills for the nine CFL teams looking to improve their National depth this spring at the CFL Draft. And for another year, it is I who will give each team unsolicited advice on which position group they should be watching. This isn’t simply looking at each team’s roster and showcasing a position where they may lack some positional depth.
