Our staff writer Christian at the newspaper is an avid and experienced hunter. In one of his recent columns he wrote about the importance of the late spring and early-to-mid summer when it comes to making preparations for hunting excursions come fall. Hunters pack all the right stuff: safety equipment, maps, a compass, granola bars, boots, extra socks and good camo gear. Camouflage is critical, allowing a hunter to blend into the hunting environment and avoid alerting game.

ELK PARK — The June meeting of the Elk Park Town Council opened on a slightly different note than usual, with Councilwoman Darlene Hicks conducting the meeting in the absence of Mayor Daniel Boone, who was unable to attend the meeting due to his employment responsibilities. The Monday, June 2, meeting continued per its agenda with the usual approvals of minutes and bills for the month of May, as well as the April financial statements.

That debt figure breaks down to $107,808 in debt per person and $323,051 in debt per taxpayer.
