Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus is busy ‘revamping’ the national team, looking towards the next World Cup, in Australia in 2027. The one position that desperately needs some ‘fresh legs’ is the front row, with the resources that won back-to-back World Cups severely depleted. Roos was recalled at the weekend, after Erasmus’ preferred No.8 Cameron Hanekom suffered a hamstring injury during the Bulls’ United Rugby Championship semifinal win over the Sharks at Loftus Versfeld.

INTERVIEW: South Africa has an alarming injury list just weeks out from the start of the World Champions’ international season. Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus, in a virtual media briefing, read off a list of injured players that will be cause for concern – including some new afflictions.
