The carnival in Rio? Not exactly. But I’m knocking back a tin of fizzy Pinot. Like lots of voters I was craving a return to decency — or even just a stab at it. Many of our listeners — to Times Radio and our podcast, Off Air with Jane and Fi — were telling us they were sick of the sleaze, the deception, the jiggery-pokery. No overwhelming enthusiasm for Sir Keir Starmer or Labour; this was a How-could-it-be-any-worse vote for Labour. If you’re expecting miracles, you’re going to be disappointed.
