WHEN I left my marriage, I thought it was all my husband’s fault. I didn’t want to start again at the age of 55, but I felt I didn’t have a choice. Filled with sadness and blame, I truly believed that had he been different, we would still be married. Divorce is always brutal. We vowed to stay friends, to try and stay together as a family, still doing Christmas and holidays together.

I live in a small, tight-knit neighborhood. Everybody knows everybody and we all love to gossip. My next-door neighbor acts like she is perfect, but I recently discovered something that would not only shatter her reputation, but it would also potentially ruin lives. My 16-year-old daughter had been going through an angsty/moody phase for a few months now and it's getting unbearable. She refuses to eat dinner with my husband and I and her younger siblings. In the weight room and the exercise studios, there are staff members constantly walking around wiping down the equipment. They do it as a service that the members pay for!, so I don't ever clean the equipment myself. But the other day, after I got up from a bench without wiping it, an older woman stared me down like I was a pig. I told her if she wanted clean equipment to do it herself or wait for a staffer. That started a big fight and she blabbed to everyone at the gym about it.

My husband and I are both 28 years old, we got married last year and are still very much in our honeymoon phase. The other day, we went to see the new Gladiator movie at the cinema. Afterward, all I could talk about was how attractive Paul Mescal was in the movie. My husband joked about being jealous of my crush, and so I told him that, of course, he is allowed to have a celebrity crush too — and I'm not allowed to be annoyed by it because there are many celebrities I'm attracted to.
