4. DiscussionsOur findings suggest that, in general, there are more people in the dementia group who lose weight compared to people without a diagnosis of dementia. On average, a person with a memory disorder experiences −0.63% of biennial % weight loss during the 24 years of follow-up. For example, for a person that weighed 150 lbs, a 0.63% weight loss would be equivalent to losing 0.945 lb per 2 years, or, cumulatively, 11.34 lb in 24 years.
