The case of a Timaru woman convicted of murdering her three daughters has been “triggering” for some mothers and may reinforce stigma around women struggling to cope with parenthood, experts say. Lauren Dickason was yesterday found guilty of murder. She had admitted killing Liané, Maya and Karla, but denied the murder charge on grounds of infanticide and insanity.

The stolen ute that was used by Tom Phillips, the father of three missing Marokopa children, has been transported out of Te Anga, where it was found earlier today. A 1News cameraman spotted the brown/bronze 2003 Toyota Hilux flat-deck ute on top of a Williams Salvage truck in the Waitomo area just before 7pm. Police were tipped off by a member of the public who saw the ute just off Marokopa Rd in Te Anga around 11am today.

A stolen ute is at the centre of police inquiries after missing Marokopa father Tom Phillips was seen driving it on three separate occasions yesterday. Jayda, 10, Maverick, 8, and Ember Phillips, 7, along with their father, have been missing since December 2021. Detective Inspector Will Loughrin said at a press conference today police inquiries have stepped up following three reported sightings of him yesterday.

Jayda, Maverick and Ember Phillips, along with their father have been missing since December 2021. It's a stunning vista on Marine Parade in Mellon's Bay except for the stretch of road that's been caving in after months of severe weather in Auckland. Cones surround approximately 25m of the seaward side of the road, which is slowly being swallowed up. Bollards lined along the sodden bank have moved further down the slope, presumably by the sheer force of wet soil. Some residents are more concerned than others about the damage.

The book, released in May, is aimed at children aged 10+ and is authored by Sydney-based Dr Melissa Kang and Yumi Stynes who describe it as "the only guide you need to navigate consent for tweens and teens of all genders". Kang is an adolescent health doctor and researcher and Stynes is a podcaster and radio host.

A judge has ordered New Zealand Police to pay $5750 to a Wellington Parliament protester charged with trespass after a police detective botched the gathering of a key witness. It follows the detective failing to properly read a series of requests by a police prosecutor, requesting the identity of the witness — an officer involved in the protester's arrest that he had known for more than 20 years. The judge described the error as "hard to fathom".

As international travel picks up following the Covid-19 pandemic, more airports around the world are looking to ease queues by making eGate access simpler. It comes as the UK Government has just announced an expansion of the service to 10 and 11-year-olds, of which 400,000 are expected to use the system this year. At an eGate, a passport is scanned and automatically checked instead of it being done by a border officer, in some countries it's called an automated border control system (ABC).

The Department of Conservation has apologised to local iwi after it admitted it made a mistake over a decision to leave a deceased dolphin to decompose at Eastern Beach in Auckland. The entities are today burying the mammal near the coastline. A digger, along with several people, one in an orange jumpsuit wearing a mask, could be seen at the scene. Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki were tipped off from a member of the public about the dolphin on Wednesday and contacted DOC the same day.
