The patient had been taken to hospital after contracting a major strain of bird flu, known as H5N1. Louisiana health department said they were over the age of 65, and had other underlying health conditions.

Election workers have a long week ahead of them. Back in 2020, the presidential race was called four days after Election Day. We likely won’t know who officially won the 2024 race tonight either. But we will probably know before Saturday, said Robert Stein, a political science professor at Rice University who’s an expert on elections. More than 85 million Americans have voted early, according to a tracker from the University of Florida’s Election Lab.

Why are there so many food recalls?

Several food companies have recently pulled products from store shelves and menus that posed safety risks, sickened customers or even led to their deaths. Earlier this month, TreeHouse Foods, a maker of private label brands, recalled dozens of frozen waffle and pancake products sold at stores including Kroger and Target due to possible listeria contamination. Last week, Costco smoked salmon and Fresh Express salad bowls were also recalled over listeria concerns.
