Your book is called The Painful Truth about Hunger in America. What is the painful truth that people might not know? My book is grounded in the wisdom and expertise of people who know hunger firsthand, and I’m very committed to being in solidarity with them. The book is about the last 25 years of my work, where I was interviewing and working alongside primarily Black and brown women who were trying to break out of poverty in the city of Philadelphia and beyond.
