Polarimeter to Unify the Corona and Heliosphere, or PUNCH, is a spacecraft array that has sent its first photos back after its launch into polar orbit on March 11. The goal of the mission is to examine how solar corona transitions into solar wind, which is what is visible as auroras on Earth. PUNCH isn’t one satellite, but rather a set of four suitcase-sized spacecraft that together create an 8,000-mile-wide space weather detector.

Light Lens Lab is set to release its next optic, a modern remake of the rare P. Angenieux Type S21 50mm f/1.5. In development for over a year, the company will announce pricing and availability on May 21, 2025. The original P. Angenieux Type S21 50mm f/1.5 was produced by French optics manufacturer P. Angenieux in 1953 for the Exakta mount, which was a bayonet fitting with a spring-locking lever, as well as for the M42 screw mount.

Pelican announced a new interior padding system for its Long Case hard cases that uses a grid and foam pegs to allow users to reconfigure the interior to pad any number of pieces of gear. The Re-Set system relies on the padded top interior of a Pelican Long Case but replaces the cut foam or standard dividers of the storage area with a matrix of high-density foam pegs. The company says that this infinitely configurable storage system adapts to gear, ensuring a perfect fit for any outing.

This week, a Nikon camera was found buried in the ground near a footpath on the Isles of Scilly. After checking the SD card, it was estimated to have been lost somewhere between 2017 and 2018. After publishing a few of the photos on Facebook, the owner was found just a day later.
