PITTSBURGH – Drop the name of Aaron Rodgers to a couple of friendly strangers in the Steel City and it doesn’t matter that you’ve just met. Pass the truth serum. In these parts, where the fans bleed Black and Gold, it seems that everybody has some passionate opinion about the new Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. “I was expecting this to happen,” Corrine Farrell said.

Jim Irsay passed away in his sleep during the afternoon of May 21. The official cause of death has not been disclosed, but given the significant health challenges that confronted the Indianapolis Colts owner over the years and the personal demons that severely impacted the course of his very public life, it is natural to wonder. Bad optics, NFL. Just bad. This is the week when another installment of the league’s ambitious coaching accelerator program — designed to bolster diversity efforts — was slated to kick off in conjunction with the NFL owners meeting in Minnesota. But that prime opportunity to connect up-and-coming coaches with team owners has been punted into hiatus by the NFL, pegged to return in some reimagined fashion next year. Why give it the hook now? It reeks of politics, silly.

Crushed at the passing of 13 yr @dallascowboys Tom Rafferty at 70. Perfect Landry c-g: quick, smart, tough and reliable. Better person. Funny, sharp, great teammate. Great human. You win with men like Raff. Rest now, friend. https://t.co/MEWo4Dq202
