The Wisconsin basketball team recently began the search to replace star guard John Tonje after the end of a successful season. Wisconsin snagged a gem in the transfer portal a season ago after taking a chance on Tonje, who had missed the entire season prior due to a knee injury. Retooling the backcourt is a priority for the Wisconsin basketball staff, and that starts with finding someone who can assist the offense in a way that Tonje did.

The big man shot 39.7% last season from the floor, with 69.4% of his shot attempts coming from beyond the arc.

The Wisconsin basketball staff finally dipped into the transfer portal and landed a commitment from a familiar Milwaukee native. Andrew Rohde, a 6-foot-6-inch shooting guard, entered the transfer portal after the Virginia Cavaliers dropped out of the ACC Tournament. The guard spent two seasons with the Cavaliers before deciding to enter the portal, and previously found his way to Virginia via the portal.

Former DePaul and Wake Forest big man Churchill Abass could be the prototypical center Wisconsin is looking for. Abass previously averaged nearly a block a game and plays his best basketball in the paint. Might not be the fastest/most gifted player on the court but defense and

Churchill Abass in 41 minutes this season: 8 blocks, 10 rebounds (4 offensive) Has a ton of upside due to his combination of footspeed, strength & verticality. Only a freshman. https://t.co/7YkCYKlHVI
