If you looked behind the scenes you would find many people playing roles to make sure the event goes off without a hitch.

With the loss of Jocko Rader in 2019, the pandemic in 2020, and various other hinderances, the DCB-HOF sat on the back burner for a long time. But, with the dedication of a few individuals with extensive history with Door County Baseball, the next class of Inductees has been chosen and will be honored on May 3, 2025.

However, there seems to be one in the Door County League, and that is if there is a trophy to be won, Sister Bay or Kolberg will be winning it.

The Sister Bay Bays won their third regular-season championship in four seasons on Sunday. Submitted. When the dust settled from tiebreaker weekend, Sister Bay rose to the top, winning its second-straight league title and third in four years. Both of Sunday’s games were nail biters and gave the fans their money’s worth. With the win, Sister Bay gets home field throughout the playoffs, while Kolberg gets at least one game at home. Maplewood and Washington Island round out the playoff field.

When the dust settled from tiebreaker weekend, Sister Bay rose to the top winning their second straight league title with a 5-3 win over Kolberg on Sunday. It’s the Bays third title in four seasons. Both of Sunday’s playoff games were nail biters and gave the fans their moneys worth.

As expected, there will be an extra week of the regular season in the Door County Baseball League as both the championship and the last playoff spot are yet to be decided. The Braves dispatched their southern rivals, the Mets, last week to earn a third game against the Bays, who had a fight on their hands for seven innings against the Ports. Washington Island and Egg Harbor beat the teams at the bottom to earn a showdown with each other for the fourth playoff spot.

Jacksonport and Baileys Harbor were eliminated over the weekend, leaving five teams to fight it out for the four playoff spots. Fourth place could end up coming down to a win-and-you’re-in game between Washington Island and Egg Harbor. More importantly, there could be a winner-take-all championship game as well between Kolberg and Sister Bay. Ah, but Maplewood could find themselves in that mix as well. Should be an exciting final week.

With two weeks to go in the regular season, the Mets are now playoff bound as they join the Braves and Bays at that party. Some crazy week 12 games have now really created a traffic jam for that fourth spot as four teams have a shot at that final spot.

With three weeks to go in the Door County League regular season there is still a lot to be determined. What we know for sure is Institute has been eliminated from playoff contention and West Jacksonport won’t be far behind if they lose Sunday. The upstart Baileys Harbor A’s are a game out of the fourth seed, and what do you know – Washington Island has stormed back into the playoff hunt and is now tied for the fourth spot. It is going to be a fun final few weeks.

It is bad enough that umpires have to be out there in warm and humid conditions wearing their gear like they did last Sunday. It’s even worse when they also have to hear it from the fans. In a tightly contested game, it is easy for some to get caught up in the moment. Mix in a couple of libations and well, you have a recipe for disaster. I have had moments like that where the words come out before the brain can put a stop to them. I had one of those moments last Sunday.
