Photo by Al Pereira/Getty Images The San Francisco 49ers were awful in every facet of their special-teams unit in 2024. Okay, maybe not replacement punter Pat O’Donnell and replacement kickers Anders Carlson and Matthew Wright, but the rest is true. The 49ers’ first step was firing Brian Schneider and hiring Brant Boyer, who led the Jets’ special-teams unit to the top spot in special-teams DVOA during the second half of 2024.

Photo by Brandon Sloter/Getty Images After using all eleven draft picks to retool and rebuild the San Francisco 49ers roster and future, the organization may target a free agent addition before training camp. Photo by Perry Knotts/Getty Images Narratives can be spun anyway anyone chooses. Cherry-picking stats can tell a story. Cherry-picking plays can tell a story. Neither tells the entire story. Stats should back up what your eyes tell you. Stats also lack context. Either way you slice it, anyone can use pieces of information to push a narrative. Which brings us to Pro Football Focus and their assessments of the San Francisco 49ers’ 2025 draft class.

Photo by Perry Knotts/Getty Images Robert Saleh is back in town, and the message for the San Francisco 49ers during the NFL draft was clear: beef up the defensive line and stop the run. Several 49ers players have verbalized a thought process of “stop the run and have some fun.” You have to earn the right to rush the passer by stopping the run early and putting your team in a position to pin their ears back and get the quarterback on third and long or obvious passing situations.

Photo by Perry Knotts/Getty Images Draft grades and projections are in full swing following the completion of the NFL Draft. Analysts, amateur and professional alike are pushing out draft grades fast and furious to return to their predictions for a potential victory lap on draft prospects. Let’s face it: Very few, if any, analysts revisit wrong predictions but will highlight their victories only.

#Pacers PR did not make Tyrese Haliburton available to the media tonight. He’ll talk tomorrow, per PR. Haliburton scored a playoff career-low four points in tonight’s 22-point loss to the Cavs.
