After letting a late lead slip away in their Section 4 (5A) opener against Trinity last week, the Connellsville softball team made sure history didn't repeat itself during Monday's section home game against Peters Township. The Falcons scored eight runs in the first inning and never looked back on their way to a 15-5 win over the Indians. Connellsville pounded out 13 hits, including six hits in their big first inning.

Under cold and damp conditions, the Mt. Pleasant and Southmoreland softball teams combined for 25 hits and 23 runs in a battle for the early top spot in the Section 1 (3A) standings on Friday afternoon at Southmoreland. In the end, the Vikings came up with the final big hit as Danica Trainer belted a two-run homer in the top of the seventh, then pitched a scoreless bottom of the inning to lift Mt. Pleasant to a hard-fought 12-11 victory over the Scotties.

A late-inning four-run lead wasn't enough for the Connellsville softball team as visiting Trinity scored five unanswered runs in the final two innings to steal a 7-6 victory from the Falcons in Connellsville's Section 4 (5A) opener on Wednesday afternoon. The loss was the first of the season for the Falcons (4-1, 0-1), who were playing their first game since beating Laurel Highlands on March 26.

For Jonah Lindstrom, the chance to be a two-sport athlete in college will soon become a reality. Lindstrom, a senior at Connellsville High School, has signed his commitment letter to attend Slippery Rock University, where he will continue his education. Connellsville High School senior Whitney Bobish excelled in several sports during her time as an athlete with the Falcons. Soon, she will have the chance to continue her athletic career at the collegiate level. Bobish has signed her commitment letter to attend Westminster College, where she will continue her education and play for the school's women's volleyball team.
