On Thursday evening, the WPIAL released its softball playoff brackets, and all local teams will be in action early next week. Connellsville kicks things off among the local squads with a Class 5A first-round game on Monday. The Falcons (12-6) finished fourth in Section 4 (5A) and garnered the 15th seed. After a few games that featured some defensive struggles, the Connellsville baseball team appears to have gotten back on track. Entering the final week of the regular season, the Connellsville softball team picked up a quality victory against a playoff-bound team and Fayette County rival as the Falcons rallied late and pulled out a hard-fought 4-3 win over visiting Uniontown in a non-section game on Monday.
