WPIAL releases softball playoff brackets

On Thursday evening, the WPIAL released its softball playoff brackets, and all local teams will be in action early next week. Connellsville kicks things off among the local squads with a Class 5A first-round game on Monday. The Falcons (12-6) finished fourth in Section 4 (5A) and garnered the 15th seed. After a few games that featured some defensive struggles, the Connellsville baseball team appears to have gotten back on track. For the second time this season, a tight match-up between the Mt. Pleasant and Southmoreland softball teams was decided by one run. Both went the way of the Vikings. Earlier in April, the Vikings scored a 12-11 win over the Scotties. In the April 24 rematch, Mt.
