What a gorgeous afternoon across Southern New England as we bask in the sunshine and enjoy nice, warm, seasonal temperatures in the mid-70s! All of this is thanks to an area of high pressure sitting to the south of the region. We've earned this nice weather! (WJAR)Not a bad evening for any sports or even firing up the grill! The only thing that will be noticeable is the addition of more upper-level clouds right around sunset.

Southern New England is starting things off the correct way, thanks to an overnight cold front that flushed all of the clouds and humidity out of the region. This has allowed sunshine to prevail, but it will not last all day. Mainly dry weather on Sunday, but don't be startled by a few raindrops. (WJAR)Unfortunately, clouds fill the sky during the second half of the day as a surface trough, or weak cold front, swings through.

Southern New Englanders start their weekend with a cloudy, but rather pleasant Friday evening with temperatures in the 60s to near 70 degrees. Low-level clouds will linger overnight, and an abundance of moisture at the surface leads to the possibility of isolated patches of dense fog. If you don't mind the clouds, then the forecast initially this evening should be decent! (WJAR)The big story this weekend is the risk of severe weather on Saturday as a frontal system punches into the northeast.

Plenty of clouds are roaming through Southern New England prior to some shower activity slated for later this evening. Precipitation should hold off for most after-school activities and sports, but once the sun goes down, the risk of a shower will start to increase. Showers become more scattered in coverage around midnight. (WJAR)Scattered passing showers persist into Thursday morning, leading to a damp start. However, conditions gradually improve after lunchtime. By no means will it be a washout.
