Friday & Co Shipbrokers has brokered a major chartering deal between heavy lift shipping specialist Boskalis and a Chinese charterer, to transport the car carrier Floor (formerly Fremantle Highway) from the Netherlands to China for extensive repairs. Boskalis’ semi-submersible heavy lift ship, Boka Vanguard, will carry the damaged vessel to Asia.

Chipolbrok has ordered two more newbuild multipurpose ships from Chengxi Shipyard in China. Both newbuilds will enter service in 2025/2026. The vessels will have similar specifications to the six delivered in the company’s latest newbuilding programme (approx. 62,000 dwt, 300-tonne lift capacity).

Antonov Airlines in cooperation with Ceva Logistics delivered 40-tonnes of satellite equipment from Cologne-Bonn, Germany to Titusville, USA. The container with the satellite was loaded onto an AN-124 freighter aircraft using the back ramp and onboard cranes.

At the same time, the remaining cargo was loaded into the plane via the front ramp. The satellite Hera was developed by the European Space Agency and is a critical part of the agency’s space safety programme.

The European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) has expressed concern about the European Commission’s plans for the future EU budget. According to ESPO, the commission is preparing for a complete reform of the EU budget, which will see a large part of transport funding brought under a single funding plan per member state.

Enrico Farneti will become managing director of the Italian subsidiary of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics (Hellmann Italy) in November.

Farneti comes to the role with extensive international experience and has held various roles in Italy and the USA, most recently serving at Ceva Logistics. He succeeds Daniela Coppola, who will leave the company at the end of the year.

Structural maintenance to the I-494 Minnesota river bridge is being undertaken by Lunda Construction using an Enerpac EVO synchronous lifting system.
The 43-year-old bridge directly southeast of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport needs major repairs to safely transport people and goods between the cities of Bloomington, Eagan, and Mendota Heights.

Gosselin Logistics managed the unloading of SAL Heavy Lift’s Regine, which has carried a C3 splitter column measuring 93m long and weighing 589 tonnes. Erhardt Projects organised the sea voyage on behalf of Tecnicas Reunidas for Ineos Project One. Along with the wash tower, gas dryers and water tower, the units were safely landed on the heavy lift marshalling site.
The project was also supported by PSA Breakbulk, Felbermayr and Sarens andprior to and during operations.
