    KING CITY — After a loss in the Central Coast Section (CCS) play-in game, the King City Mustangs’ hopes of getting into the softball playoffs were up to the CCS committee, which ultimately placed them into the CCS Division V playoff bracket. After making the postseason for three years in a row, the Lady Mustangs’ playoff streak was on the line after losing 13-1 to North Salinas in the May 10 play-in game.

    KING CITY — While Watsonville has locked up the Mission Division softball title, King City, Pacific Grove and Carmel were separated by one game going into the final week. The importance in that is only three teams from the Mission earn automatic Central Coast Section (CCS) playoff berths. As the regular season came to an end, King City Mustangs softball team found themselves on the right side of the playoff bubble.

    SOLEDAD — Soledad Aztecs baseball team has set themselves up in a perfect position, as they swept the North Salinas Vikings to stay atop the Mission Division. After splitting their season series against Stevenson the week prior, the Aztecs placed first in the league. They led the Mission Division with a league record of 10-2 to Stevenson’s 8-3. This past week, the Aztecs had a match with North Salinas. On paper, Soledad should have had the upper hand against the Vikings.

    SOLEDAD — Soledad Aztecs baseball team split their two-game season series with the Stevenson Pirates, which kept Soledad in first as they moved to 10-2 in the Mission Division. Going into last week, the Mission Division saw a cluster of teams with the same record. Among those, Soledad, Stevenson and Alisal were the teams on top of the league.
