AMR sent a formal request to renegotiate its subsidy from $3 million to $5.2 million for next year. City and County agreed to terminate the contract. The City of Las Cruces and Ana County will provide fire based emergency medical transport services for residents as both organizations agreed to end a contract with American Medical Response. AMR has provided the service with the city and county for 18 years. The current agreement with AMR is a five-year agreement that was established in May 2024.

The criminal jury trial of former New Mexico State University men's basketball player Deshawndre Washington has been rescheduled for a third time after the New Mexico Supreme Court lifted a stay and denied a motion to reinstate one of Washington's attorneys. Washington faces multiple felony sexual assault charges for allegedly assaulting former teammates and student managers during the 2022-2023 basketball season.
