Chile has signed an agreement with Google to lay a submarine cable connecting Chile to Oceania. Dessarollo Pais, a state-owned infrastructure developer, and the Office of Posts and Telecommunications of French Polynesia will be responsible for installing the cable. Google joined the consortium in January 2024. There are currently no subsea cables laid across the South Pacific. The Humboldt Cable will establish a 14,000km (8,699 mile) cable from Valparaiso, Chile, to French Polynesia.

A land parcel around Tucson, Arizona, has been rezoned and sold to develop the ‘Project Blue’ data center. On June 18, the Pima County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 in favor of rezoning the 290-acre land parcel from ‘rural homestead’ to ‘light industrial’. The parcel will then be sold to San Francisco-based Beale Infrastructure, a data center developer backed by alternative investment asset company Blue Owl.

Damac-backed data center operator Edgnex will invest $2.3bn in a data center in Indonesia. Located in the nation’s capital Jakarta, the data center will offer 144MW of capacity at completion. The land for the facility was acquired in March 2025, and the company estimates the first phase will be operational by December 2026. The exact location of the facility was not disclosed. This will be Edgnex’s second data center in Indonesia.

Brazilian telco Century will invest R$150m ($27m) for its second data center in Contagem, Brazil. Announced in early June, the facility is estimated to become operational in the first half of 2026. Details about capacity were not made available. It will be located in the city of Contagem, which is west of Belo Horizonte, the state capital of Minas Gerais. The company’s first data center, which occupies 1,000 sqm (11,000 sq ft) and offers 120 racks, is also located in Contagem.
