On April 10 and 11, Aitkin’s corps of qualifying sophomore boys traveled to Cragun’s Resort to participate in the annual State Knowledge Bowl meet. In order to compete in Minnesota’s acme of academic altercations, teams had to place high enough in the regional contest which, for Aitkin’s teams, was held at the CLC Staples campus on Feb. 21. Only the top four teams in each section garnered the “golden ticket” of admission, thus locking in advancement to the State event.

A tax phase-in agreement with Valmont Industries was passed by the Brenham City Council on Thursday. Economic and Community Development Director Teresa Rosales spoke to the council about the process. In an hour-long work session on Thursday, Strand Associates laid out what could and what could not be done about the water supply upgrades city officials determined were needed last year. The city entered into an agreement with Strand to do a study of the water treatment plant expansion plan in July 2022. The cost and scope of the expansion has been discussed during council meetings and work sessions and was a hotly debated topic during the mayoral election earlier this year.
