    Freak storm hits overnight It is not exactly the weather you would expect in Magalluf in May but a freak storm caused some flooding in the popiular resort overnight prompting some tourists to ask what is happening to the weather in Mallorca! The island had been on alert for rain but the storm which hit the Calvia area came as a shock for some. Videos on social media showed flooded out streets and rubbish containers floating down the street. However, by breakast time the sun had returned.

    The island’s beaches remain a major attraction for visitors. | M.A. CAÑELLAS I do get the impression at the moment that Mallorca is living in a dream world which is far away from reality. The anti-tourism protests seem to be never-ending from Soller to Santanyi and what concerns me is that they will have an impact on tourism and holidaymakers will go elsewhere. It is as simple as that.

    Queen Victoria to visit on May 10 The pride of Britain´s cruise fleet will be visiting Palma this morning. The biggest British cruise ship, the P&= liner Arvia will be arriving in Palma on May 16. Six days earlier the Cunard liner Queen Victoria will be mooring up in the local port.

    A lack of sun hits crop It was a question of better late than never! Mallorca potatoes have finally arrived in Britain, which is their key export market, but this year the crop was hiy by an almost unbelievable problem for an island known for its weather....a lack of sun. Harvesting took place later this year because of the weather in March and April, where there was little sun and plenty of rain.
