The World Travel Market London which has opened this morning has confirmed that this year’s event will be the largest to date, with an expected 7% growth and expansion into new halls at ExCeL London, reflecting the thriving international tourism sector. The World Travel Market expects to showcase around 4,000 exhibitors including tourism boards, hoteliers, transport brands, technology services and world-class experiences. There will be over 80 new exhibitors lined up at the global gathering.

Great Britain will compete for the America's Cup for the first time since 1964 after beating Italy 7-4 in a qualifying event in Barcelona this afternoon. Ineos Britannia won the first of two races in Spain on Friday to seal the best-of-13 series against the Italian Luna Rossa team. The British team trained in Mallorca and even established a base in Porto Pi. The victory means Great Britain will take on New Zealand for the trophy on 12 October.

Australian actor Chris Hemsworth is certainly enjoying his time in Mallorca where he is filming scenes for his National Geographic Limitless with Chris Hemsworth series. The actor, who rose to fame playing Thor, said in an Instagram post "great times filming in Mallorca for #LimitlesswithChrisHemsworth season 2 with @natgeo @wildstateprod." Chris is based in the south of the island and arrived last month accompanied by a film crew. He has tried his hand at psicobloc.

Be careful what you wish for. This statement always comes to mind when there is talk of attempting to attract fewer tourists to the island. These words were echoed by the Chief Executive of travel giant Jet2, when he was asked about the need to limit tourism to the island. The Balearic government has gone into overdrive setting up a committee which will look at ways at changing the tourism model: in other words we are talking about the end of mass tourism.
