Great news for everyone who enjoys betting on golf: Scottie Scheffler isn’t in this week’s RBC Canadian Open field. Nothing against the world’s No. 1-ranked player, of course, but he’s back to doing those 2024 things again, essentially leaving everyone else playing for second place after claiming his third title in his last four starts. That could very well be the case again next week at Oakmont for the U.S. Open, where he’s already a 3/1 favorite as he’ll chase his fourth major championship.

Perhaps the most compelling answer during Scottie Scheffler’s post-victory press conference at the Memorial Tournament on Sunday evening wasn’t even given by the man who was asked the question. If there’s a women’s major championship that’s ripe for picking some players with longer odds, it’s the U.S. Women’s Open. Just check out how the game’s best players have fared at this one. Nelly Korda is No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings, but she’s played this event 10 times and has more missed cuts (3) than top-10s (2). Jeeno Thitikul is No. 2, and while her experience is more limited, she just posted her first top-10 last year.
