Now that Rory McIlroy has answered the lingering question about whether he'd ever win the career grand slam, the next one we'll collectively ask is: What will he do for an encore? One school of thought is that the floodgates could once again open. The man who claimed four major titles from 2011 through 2014 essentially removed three monkeys from his back during Sunday's triumph - one for the career slam, one for the green jacket and one for an 11-year major championship drought.

No rest for the weary, as I just drove six hours from Augusta to the home office and immediately started grinding over RBC Heritage research. I’ll wax poetic – or hack mundane, as the case may be – about Rory McIlroy’s historic victory elsewhere on this website, but I’ll keep this intro uncommonly short, so we can get right to it. Here’s what you need to know: First off, McIlroy isn’t in the field – and this wasn’t some last-minute decision after he slid his arms into the green jacket.

Rory McIlroy isn’t very active on social media. He does know enough to have an account on X, though, where Monday afternoon he posted a photo of himself draped in the green jacket with the caption, “Dreams do come true.”A well-read and well-informed kind of guy, his lack of activity shouldn’t be confused for passivity.

Despite my role as captain of the Keith Mitchell (+1400) bandwagon, I can’t get behind the idea of backing him as a favorite at any tournament, even one with an inferior field such as this. Alex Smalley (+1800) and Ben Griffin (+1800) are both more interesting, especially considering that each of the last two winners (Billy Horschel and Matt Wallace) were 25/1 or better pre-tournament and six of the last seven were inside 50/1.

On Sunday evening, Rory McIlroy became the sixth male golfer of all-time to complete the career grand slam – and just the second in the last 58 years. They say those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, but hell, that was pretty fun, so I don’t think a lot of us would mind seeing another addition to golf’s most exclusive club in their lifetime. Let’s take a look forward and try to deduce which players have an opportunity to join the list next.

Pro tip: Don't go long on 15, guys.

Justin Rose in the clubhouse with 65, but I still think Charley Hoffman is gonna be leading this at the end of the day.
