Chip Tha Ripper’s music has an important piece of my journey into hip-hop, with his collaborations alongside Kid Cudi in the early 2010s standing out as some of my favorite memories of my early experiences listening to the genre. His work has been a constant companion, marking the beginning of my fascination with hip-hop during those formative years. Chip, hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, and now residing in Los Angeles, has earned legendary status as an independent artist.

Brooklyn’s Radamiz has dropped a fiery new track, “Ffiirree,” featuring an equally blazing collaboration with ICECOLDBISHOP. I’ve now covered DMV great and rising superstar Joony a half-dozen times or so, and the growth I’ve seen is unbelievable. MEMENTO is making a run for one of my favorite projects of the year. Comprised of 10 tracks (including three interludes), MEMENTO feels like the project that catapults Joony into celebrity status. The professional sound, creativity, production, and effort is all obvious from top to bottom – something I saw glimpses of early on, but has now become the norm for him as of recent.

If you read my posts often enough you’ll know I’m an avid D. Savage supporter. I’ve really always messed with his music dating back to his 2016 viral Vine days, but as his career has progressed, he’s steadily found a way into my library more and more. This especially was amplified after I saw him live at Summer Smash 2022, when he had one of the most fun, interactive, and energetic shows I’ve seen at the festival.

I first stumbled upon 916frosty’s music back in 2017 on SoundCloud, and it’s been a few years since I’d last heard him. Now, in 2023, he’s back with a bang, dropping a mesmerizing 6-track EP titled “MIRABELLA.” The EP, accompanied by his executive producer Zubin, has been an instant sensation, racking up over 150,000 streams in just one weekend. It’s a testament to the enduring talent, hard work, and creativity of this Sacramento artist.

I’ve been listening to SoloSam since I met and worked with him this Summer at LL Summer Smash, and I can’t say enough about his creativity as an artist, entrepreneur, and content creator. Inspiring as it all has been, nothing quite resonated with me as much as his recent release “HATERS” did, when I found out he not only self-produced the beat and the track, but the visual as well.

Once in awhile, I’m lucky enough to find an artist I really enjoy through press, searches, or simply stumbling upon them on a streaming platform. I recently came across Queens artist CamilosGarden when I heard “WHERE THE LOVE GO?,” a genre-bending track that immediately showed me his potential and skill set, and I had to go tap in. Sifting through some of his work, I learned CamilosGarden isn’t just a one-track showcase.
