The Queensland government has announced an inquiry into the state's leading domestic violence service to see if it is "fit for purpose". Domestic and Family Violence Minister Amanda Camm said the review will investigate how DVConnect spends its funds, whether it is adequately resourced, and if the service meets expectations. DVConnect runs a statewide sexual assault helpline as well as a 24-hour domestic violence helpline.

Wet weather is set to continue for much of Queensland today with the state's central coast and Capricornia region likely to receive the heaviest falls. A trough hovering over inland Queensland has delivered this week's wet conditions, but the Bureau of Meteorolgy is now expecting a coastal trough to develop later today. Some areas had isolated falls of up to 50 millimetres yesterday, with the west and north of Brisbane seeing the heaviest falls.

Heatwaves bring sticky afternoons and sleepless nights — but west of Brisbane, they may have also brought "swarms" of Christmas beetles.
