For multiple reasons, the past few mainline issues of The High Republic Adventures have fallen flat on their face. Chalk it up to these issues containing too many characters and storylines, transitions between artists, or a seeming lack of focus; it’s a sad ending for one of the best in the publishing initiative. Sadly, it’s a similar refrain with Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures issue #18.

Something that Star Wars:Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents has nailed from the start is its tone. Replicating the goofy, wisecracking, and sometimes absurd antics of Clone Force 99, the series is perfect for fans of the animated series. It also helps that many other fan-favorites make a return. The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents issue #3 keeps that streak alive with humor, intense action, and more guests.

Over time, the characters of Padawan Gavi Takitaken and double agent Driggit Parse have really grown on me. First introduced in the middle-grade novel The High Republic: Escape from Valo, and further developed via other one-shot comics, the story of these two is one of finding themselves and learning to make an impact in whatever “small” way they can. Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – The Battle of Eriadu helps to bring these two’s story some finality.
