Eight months before Motörhead recorded their iconic self-titled debut album, half of those tracks were recorded in an initial 1976 session. Now, nearly 50 years later, those raw versions are set to finally be released for the first time as The Manticore Tapes, due out June 27. The first sample of those potent early recording sessions, “Motörhead,” was released on Thursday (May 8), and this newly unearthed version of their eponymous song showcases the fiery sound of the young band.

Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo has launched a new band called One More Satellite, and debuts the project with the lead single, “Paper Over the Cracks.” DeLeo has teamed up with English vocalist Pete Shoulder in the group, and they are set to release the self-titled debut album on July 18th. “I was simply sitting on some songs I wanted to record,” DeLeo said of the project in a press release. “What started out as an instrumental album, quickly changed soon after Pete and I chatted.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil said that the band is planning to release their long-delayed final album featuring late frontman Chris Cornell, who tragically died by suicide in 2017 at the age of 52. “Our objective and goal was always to complete that [album],” Thayil, 64, told the publication. “I think everyone in the band feels that way.
