    When it comes to weather forecasts, no one is better than a certified meteorologist, but every February 2, the nation turns to a groundhog in western Pennsylvania for its weather prognostication. Turns out, Punxsatawney Phil is a failure. In honor of Groundhog Day, NOAA just ranked the nation's weather-predicting animals. Phil wasn't in the top ten. Phil ranked just 17th, with an accuracy rate of just 35%. That's a hall of fame batting average, but a flunking grade in forecasting school.

    Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted for the second time in a week. Lava began flowing on Wednesday afternoon. It is the fifth eruption since December 23rd. Seismic activity increased when the eruption began. For now the lava flow is confined to an area inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
