In pictures: LA wildfires rage on into new week Firefighters are desperately trying to bring the wildfires in Los Angeles under control before wind speeds pick up again and fan the flames. As a reminder, the Palisades fire and Eaton fire are still raging. The two have scorched nearly 40,000 acres of land combined. The Hurst fire is also still burning, though is much closer to being contained.

'A continued period of critical fire weather' The National Weather Service has warned of worsening SantaAna winds, leading to fears the fires could get worse. Gusts are set to hit intothis morning (afternoon UK time) in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, and again onlate Monday into Tuesday morning. Winds could reach 70 mph. "We're in a continued period of critical fire weatherthrough Wednesday," said NWS meteorologist Rose Schoenfeld.
