As best we understand it, schools can now pay players directly from their athletic budget. This is in addition to NIL income and of course a scholarship (although that means less and less with players now transferring up to five times in some cases).

When he got to the Boston Celtics, Brad Stevens said that he wanted the janitors to think about championships. He wanted everyone focused on the same goal. There are a lot of moving parts, in other words, but like any organization, while you want to keep the best ones, people come and go.

He got pulled in though because the announcer kept saying Bird! this and Bird! that and did you see the pass by Bird? Can you believe what Bird did there?

Well this is an interesting twist. After multiple mock drafts from many sources, USAToday had the bright idea of asking ChatGPT AI to do one. It’s interesting just to see what AI comes up with in this respect but it’s far from perfect. Obviously it can look at rosters and stats and measurements but it can’t measure emotion or desire or many other things. Still, it’s intriguing to see what it comes up with.

If it seems like he’s been around forever, well, he kind of has been. Nelson wrote Crazy, made famous by Patsy Cline, in 1961. After writing songs for others, he began to focus more on his own career and when he left Nashville and went back home to Texas, he became iconic.

And of course it hasn't happened yet and might not. It might however, and it’s been a literal lifetime since both Duke and NC State were better than UNC at the same time - early 1960’s, to be exact. We pointed to the pressure that would put on UNC’s Hubert Davis and suggested his seat was warming up.
