Just one spin of an offshore wind turbine can power the average Australian home for 48 hours, according to wind energy companies. The Albanese government has set aside six offshore wind farm zones around Australia — two off Victoria's coast, two off NSW and one each for Tasmania and Western Australia.

A significant chapter in a Victorian cold case was closed on Tuesday, as a killer was sentenced two decades after ambushing his victim and dumping his remains in a forest. Glenn Ernest Fenwick, 61, was jailed for a maximum of five and a half years after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of Christopher Jarvis in June 2006. With time already served, Fenwick could be released on parole in August this year.

Police have seized more than $1 million worth of ketamine as part of an alleged three-man drug ring in south-west Victoria. Victoria Police this week arrested and charged three men in relation to the drug bust, which included seizing approximately 6 kilograms of ketamine with a street value of about $1.2 million. On Wednesday, Warrnambool police arrested a 44-year-old man from Glenormiston South at a delivery centre in Terang.
