    A new agreement for the policing of Corinth schools is another step closer to completion. The Corinth School District Board of Trustees on Thursday approved a memorandum of understanding with the City of Corinth that would put the Corinth Police Department in charge of police protection for the three school campuses. Action by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen is likely to follow on Tuesday as the city and the school district move to get the arrangement in place before the next school year.

    The local spay and neuter program for cats and dogs is now reaching beyond the borders of Corinth and Alcorn County to help tackle the overpopulation problem in surrounding areas. The Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter’s ACSpay is now a two-tiered program – one supported by the Alcorn County Board of Supervisors for local residents and another supported by other sources for those who live beyond the borders of Alcorn County.

    A Corinth man convicted of manslaughter in a 2015 stabbing case believes a detective should not have been allowed to testify his opinion that the defendant did not act in self-defense.
