Monday, May 12: Atlanta, Georgia’s Dropsonic has returned with its first studio album in over a decade. A self-titled release, the record was co-produced by the band’s longtime friend William DuVall (Alice In Chains). We’ll hear selections from that as well as music from Yasmin Nur’s new release, Slaughter. Tuesday, May 13: We celebrate Stevie Wonder’s birthday with music from him as well as Michael McDonald, Susan Tedeschi, Rufus, Jerry Garcia with Merl Saunders, and The Dirtbombs.

Paula Poundstone will perform at Wichita’s Orpheum Theatre on Saturday, May 10. Poundstone is a regular panelist on NPR’s “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me” and hosts the weekly podcast “Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone.”She recently discussed her comedy act and her relationship with NPR in a conversation with KMUW. Charming Disaster is a Brooklyn-based duo consisting of Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris. Formed in 2012, the duo will release its latest recording, The Double, May 16, 2025. The LP, according to Bisker and Morris, features songs inspired by “nature, mortality, magic, ritual, and literary genres ranging from science fiction to Victorian horror.” The pair recently discussed this new recording, Charming Disaster’s history, and their relationship with their audience.

Goodbye Small Head is the latest album from Ezra Furman, due out May 16 via Bella Union. Furman explains that much of the material originated after she’d suffered a bout of extreme illness. From there, the material came swiftly and with dark themes emerging along the way. Furman returned to her hometown, Chicago, to work with longtime friend and producer Brian Deck.
