KINGSPORT — T.J. Maxwell and his Dobyns-Bennett teammates finished off the Tribe Classic in style on Saturday. Maxwell drove in five runs as the Indians rolled to an 18-4 win over Gate City on Saturday at J. Fred Johnson Stadium. With the bases loaded in the second inning, Maxwell stepped up and delivered a three-run triple. Two innings later, he came through with a monster home run over right field which scored two more runs.

KINGSPORT — Mike Potter was remembered at Kingsport Speedway before Friday night’s racing program featuring the touring Super Cup Series. Potter, a Johnson City driver who died in 2022, competed at stock car racing’s highest levels with 60 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series. Potter won a race in the Super Cup Series in Ohio when he was 70 years old. He was also a successful car owner in the series. His former driver, Ben Ebeling, swept 40-lap features at Kingsport’s 3/8-mile concrete oval.
