Startup Avelo Airlines has added its second nonstop destination from Dulles Airport with flights to coastal Wilmington, North Carolina, but has canceled plans for nonstops to Charlotte. The twice weekly flights to Wilmington operate Mondays and Fridays on Boeing 737 aircraft. It is the only nonstop to Wilmington from Dulles.

D.C.’s &pizza plans to expand to more than 300 locations by the end of the decade across the country through franchising, but its first franchise deal is right here in D.C. The local franchise operator, Isaiah Williams, has acquired three of &pizza’s existing restaurants, including Navy Yard, U Street, and its original location on H Street Northeast, which opened in 2012. Williams is a former NCAA football standout at the University of Arizona snd University of Virginia – Lynchburg.

Americans eat about one billion pounds of canned tuna a year, making it one of the most popular fish choices in the U.S., but canned tuna is about as close to tinned fish as most Americans get. Tinned fish is however, enjoying a surge in U.S. popularity in recent years as a high-protein snack or meal, from lunchboxes (though not an office make-friendly smell) to high-end restaurant menus. The median down payment of homebuyers taking out mortgages nationally fell in April for the first time in two years, and down payments for D.C.-area homebuyers are lower than the national average. Redfin reports the median down payment in the D.C. region in April was 10%. The national average was 15%. Ten percent is still an average of almost $62,000 in the D.C. market. One reason for lower average down payments here is the popularity of Department of Veterans Affairs Home loans.

The tariff impact on new vehicles imported to the U.S. probably won’t show up on dealer lots until this summer. But automakers are finding invisible ways to raise some costs for buyers right now. Automobile review and price comparison site Edmunds said incentives are where dealers are quietly pulling back. “You’ll stop seeing as many offers for 1.9% financing for 60 months, or maybe there will be less cash back. Instead of $3,000 cash back, it may only be $1,500,” Ivan Drury said.
