Jaxson Gates is currently committed to Syracuse, but that hasn't stopped other schools from trying to pull the three-star cornerback away from the Orange. Among those schools is BYU. The Cougars are going to get their shot to impress Gates this weekend when he arrives for his official visit to Provo. "What I want to see from BYU is a program that knows how to develop players," Gates told Cougar Sports Insider.

It's the June addition of the CSI Top 10 for the 2026 recruiting class. VIPJune is the new December. In years gone by, many players would wait to make their commitments until after they had taken a series of official visits. Because officials couldn't take place until the player had actually started their senior years, December and January became critical months for schools on the recruiting trail. But that's not the case anymore.

The Bishop Gorman product had signed with Oregon but flipped to BYU a few months later. He is currently serving a mission in Colorado and will enroll before the 2027 season.

Four-star offensive lineman Alai Kalaniuvalu originally committed to Oregon. During the 2024 season, Kalaniuvalu flipped his commitment away from the Ducks and committed to BYU. He was locked in with the Cougars, and played a critical role in recruiting several other players to BYU, before the early signing period arrived. On the day he was expected to sign, Kalaniuvalu announced that he had flipped his commitment back to the Ducks and ultimately signed with Dan Lanning's squad.
