The start of that game will be talked about for decades and helped propel the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament to a whole new stratosphere…I don’t think he’ll ever win a Norris Trophy, but now everybody should understand how great Jaccob Slavin is and where he fits among the top blueliners in the game.

The booing – this went completely according to script, and nobody can be surprised at the action or reaction. We knew no matter what, the audience was going to have a go at the U.S. anthem, and people would go banana sandwich about it online. Both happened.

Can we just be blunt about something?  We all know the desired outcome for the Four Nations Faceoff is Canada vs. the United States, so if the NHL is going to put together some kind of ‘international calendar,’ just give the people what they want. A best-of-five series between Canada and the U.S.No tournament, just a series between two countries. Not unlike 1972, but this time, Canada faces off against their new best international rival – their neighbors.

Grassy knoll or Occam’s Razor? Do you side with conspiracy theories or do you believe the easiest, most obvious answer is the correct one? When you look at the Philadelphia Flyers’ side of the Morgan Frost/ Joel Farabee for Andrei Kuzmenko/Jakob Pelletier/picks trade, you can let your mind run with both. The Flyers have opened some cap space up along with, most importantly here, a center spot.

I wonder how many teams have had to cast out bigger trade nets with the Calgary Flames still in playoff contention this deep into January? There was very much the belief that the Flames would have fallen apart by now and GM Craig Conroy would be setting up his deadline deals, but Calgary is in a Wildcard spot. That’s great for them, but teams hoping to get business done in Alberta are now having to look elsewhere. For now. Prices now for top players remain high.
