Watch out for slick mountain roads Tuesday morning with a few lingering snow flurries possible. Partly sunny skies by the afternoon with chilly 40s for temperatures, bundle up. We'll have a hard freeze Tuesday night with low temperatures dropping into the 20s for most of our valleys. Winterize everything outdoors. Another storm moves in Thursday morning with another round of rain and mountain snow showers.

Get ready for a stormy Wednesday, with an area of low pressure that will set up over the region through Thursday giving us afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Look for showers to develop over the mountain areas and drift over our valleys by the afternoon. Be prepared for flash flooding, as some of the storms could dump heavy rain over the recent burn areas like the Davis Fire.

A hot, dry and breezy forecast continues on Monday and Tuesday with afternoon winds in the 15 to 30 mph range over the Davis Fire burning in South Reno. The wind will blow the fire to the northwest and northeast the next couple of days as firefighters continue to cut containment lines and battle the blaze. The wind settles down by late in the week with our typical afternoon breezes 10 to 25 mph. Windy again on Wednesday with a slight chance for an isolated shower.

A red flag warning is up through Thursday evening, for much of Nevada, with gusty winds and high fire danger. The warning starts at 2pm and goes until 10pm. A cold front will blow through the region on Thursday with gusty winds 15 to 35 mph, low humidity and high fire danger. Avoid outdoor activities that make flames or sparks to prevent new wildfires from starting. We cool down into the 60s for Friday and Saturday’s high temperatures, with morning lows in the 30s and 40s.
