Outfielder Ryan Wideman, starting pitcher Drew Whalen and relief pitcher Patrick Morris have all entered the portal, WKU confirmed Tuesday. Wideman, a junior from Marietta, Georgia, was named Conference USA’s Player and Newcomer of the Year after a standout first season for the Hilltoppers.

The 6-foot-1, 245-pound Texas native started his collegiate career at Texas Christian for two years before transferring to Marshall for the 2023 and 2024 season where he started 11 games and had 65 tackles, including four tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries.

The Hilltoppers are in Oxford, Mississippi, to as the No. 3 seed in the four-team Oxford Regional. WKU takes on No. 2 seed Georgia Tech in the first game of the double-elimination pod Friday at 3 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

In the Raiders’ 4-3 quarterfinal win against defending region champion Russell County, Vincent came in to close out Raiders’ victory after a rock-solid start by Brenden Bratcher. Vincent did the job with three straight outs – two on strikeouts – to earn the save.
