Published 9:38 am Thursday, April 24, 2025 Bowling Green junior Landon Gilbert provided a boost to the Purples’ lineup in a key two-game series against District 14 rival South Warren. Gilbert, BG’s third baseman, drove in a run in the Purples’ 8-5 loss at South Warren on Monday. In the rematch Tuesday at BG’s Harold J. Stahl Field, Gilbert did even more with a 3-for-4 day at the plate. He also drove in the game-tying run in the Purples’ 5-4 win.

LCA’s talented captain of the boys’ basketball team led the program to new heights while stacking up an impressive list of individual accomplishments topped off with the highest honor possible – being named the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association Mr. Basketball for the 2024-25 season. “It’s been life-changing,” Phillips said.

A day after dropping the series opener to rival South Warren, Bowling Green returned the favor with a 5-4 comeback win at Harold J. Stahl Field. What already looked to be a three-team race for the district crown with Greenwood also a very real threat is shaping up to be just that.

Grant Newell, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound transfer from North Texas, announced his commitment to WKU on his Instagram account Tuesday night. The Chicago native started all 36 games for a Mean Green squad that finished 27-9 and reached the National Invitation Tournament semifinals this past season.
