The Pine View girls and the Desert Hills boys captured the respective Region 9 track and field championships on Thursday in Cedar City. The Panther girls finished the two-day meet with 189.5 team points, more than double that the total of runner-up Crimson Cliffs, which scored 91. Third-place Cedar scored 87.5, while Snow Canyon placed fourth with 87 points.

CEDAR CITY — Two people were injured in a single-vehicle rollover on Interstate 15 just south of Cedar City on Saturday morning. Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Clay Allred said a black Honda Civic was heading southbound on I-15 near mile marker 56 when it went off the road for unknown reasons. The vehicle's two occupants were men in their 20s, both of whom were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, Allred said.

The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs won the 4A state girls golf championship on Thursday, pulling away from runner-up Ridgeline on the second and final day of the tournament. Playing at Southgate Golf Club in St. George, the Mustangs had led Ridgeline by two strokes after Wednesday’s round, 329 to 331. Crimson Cliffs then shot a 325 on Thursday to Ridgeline’s 344, to end up winning a comfortable 21-stroke margin (654 to 675).

The 4A state boys volleyball tournament wrapped up on Thursday at Utah Valley University in Orem, with the No. 1 seeded Orem Tigers sweeping seventh-seeded Timpanogos in the finals to claim the state title. Earlier in the day, Timpanogos had upset No. 3 Desert Hills in the semifinals, 3-1 (25-21, 23-25 25-23, 25-21). The Thunder went on to take fourth overall in state after losing their consolation match 2-1 to Payson later that afternoon.
