Growing up, I had a rascally older brother who would always try to lead me astray. He’d tell me things like the Cubs stunk and the White Sox were No. 1, when I knew that was utter disinformation. On the heels of another contentious presidential election, some people are understandably concerned about the conversation turning political at holiday gatherings. No one wants it, but it seems to happen at my family’s home after every presidential election. One of the first things I observed during my internship on Capitol Hill were the beautifully aligned wooden buckets of ice on the third floor of the Cannon House Office Building. The oak buckets were placed about 2 feet to the left of every House office entrance as you enter, about 16 inches from the wall, early every morning. I’d say one in 20 of the ice buckets were taken into the House offices throughout the day.
