A North Bay volunteer has earned the , which recognizes people who have made outstanding contributions to their communities through voluntary activities after the age of 65. Anne Taylor has been a dedicated volunteer for over 20 years, notably with the Nipissing Trackers, a program offering free downhill skiing to children with disabilities. She recruits instructors, manages administration, and leads public relations. Her efforts led to national recognition on CBC’s Mercer Report in 2018.

A total fire ban has been declared across the Township of Bonfield as a precautionary measure against increased wildfire risks. Bonfield Fire Chief Shaun McGee has issued a total fire ban across Bonfield Township. All open-air burning is strictly prohibited until further notice. This includes: Campfires Cooking fires Incinerators and burn barrels All brush and windrow fire permits are paused and will remain inactive until the fire ban is lifted.

The Municipality of Calvin remains under a state of emergency following a large-scale evacuation effort that has seen hundreds relocated from Samuel de Champlain Park to safety. Most of the people have been evacuated from the park, confirms Calvin Mayor Richard Gould. Some have left the area, and many others are at the Mike Rodden Arena in Mattawa.
