Palos Park’s annual Hot Dog Day and Concert will not be in conflict this year with Palos Heights’ Classic Car Show. In recent years, the two events have been held on the same day, which officials believe may have held down attendance at both events. Who knew that a man who served in the British Army as a Provost Sergeant would eventually become one of Palos Park’s most dedicated residents? Charles Wells, who was born in the United Kingdom, and his wife, Laura, moved to the village in 1989. He has volunteered so much of his time to the village over the years that Mayor Nicole Milovich-Walters proclaimed June 23 Charles Wells Day at the June 23 village council meeting at the Kaptur Center in honor of the 96-year-old resident.

Weber Grill – long known for its line of charcoal kettle grills – is looking to bring its restaurant brand to Orland Park’s new downtown development. Weber has four restaurant locations – Chicago, Schaumburg, Lombard and Indianapolis. The restaurant, known for its charcoal-grilled cuisine, features a wide variety of items including premium steaks, burgers, BBQ and chef-driven specialties.

The high school sports season for 2024-25 is over, but 2025-26 offseason started with some special events. On June 18, Beecher’s cross country and track and field athletes participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Athletes, police and others took off from the CVS store, 1277 Dixie Hwy., and ran at the former police station at 724 Penfield St.. The group gathered at the new police station, 250 W. Church Rd., for a celebration.
