Making sense of what’s happening in the economy is almost always difficult, and doing so is harder than ever these days. For example, in the space of about three days we learned of a U.S. attack on Iran and a retaliatory strike against American targets in the Middle East. We learned of the escalating conflict amid a heatwave that could end up rewriting the meteorological record books around these parts. And all of that came as uncertainty deepened over trade and immigration policies.
