The goal is to develop and implement a toolkit of best practices for health care providers across the country to reference in their clinics. Regular CRC screening starting at age 45 years is the current recommendation.

It took Germany four decades to take responsibility for the evils of the Nazi era and to largely end its collective silence and denial. The country was willed toward this introspection by a postwar generation that could have shrugged off personal responsibility for crimes committed before they were born. They instead asked uncomfortable questions of parents, grandparents and neighbors, many of whom had been Nazi perpetrators or bystanders.
