Embed from Getty ImagesIsrael’s remarkable attack on Hezbollah terrorists with exploding pagers has predictably been assailed by Israel’s critics as violating the ethics of war and, ironically, even as an act of terrorism itself. Of course we should be accustomed to such charges against Israel no matter what Israel does to defend itself against the most barbaric enemies, and perhaps we should not stoop to respond to such calumnies.

Cambridge University Press 360 pp., $130 The Babylonian Talmud is the largest and arguably the most important work on the Jewish bookshelf. Its 37 tractates and more than 2,700 folios preserve an immense body of legislation, legal analysis, and court cases, alongside a wealth of biblical interpretation, rabbinic stories and sayings, and much more. But we know surprisingly little about the people who produced the Talmud and their history.

This column even exceeds his previous one-sided and biased NYT “Opinion” pieces of Jan 26, Jan. 13, Dec. 7 and more.

Embed from Getty ImagesAmong the strategies for unfairly criticizing Israel’s conduct in the Gazan War are claims based on statistics and comparisons to other wars. In some cases the criticism is explicit with Israel accused of a brutal campaign, while in others it is implicit but equally evident. However, many of the statistics are deceptive or meaningless and many of the analogies faulty. Here I will present three examples of journalists who employ this strategy in misleading ways.
