Sports We are just days away from the start of the Carifta Games. Trinidad and Tobago will host both the 2025 Carifta Aquatics Championships and the 2025 Carifta Athletics Championships. The swimming event will be held at the National Aquatic Centre in Couva, from April 19-22. That event will be followed by the open water event at Five Islands Amusement Park, Chaguaramas, on April 23. Carifta athletics will take place at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, from April 19-21.

Sports A Trinidad and Tobago Red Force team official is hoping more serious punishment will be handed down to the Guyana Harpy Eagles after allegations of ball tampering marred the final-round match of the West Indies Four-Day Championship tournament, being played at the Queen's Park Oval, St Clair. With the regional four-day title up for grabs between league leaders Guyana and second-placed TT, the visitors were penalised twice and TT were given five extra runs in both innings.

Sports TRINIDAD and Tobago Olympian Jereem Richards knows what it takes to be a world-class athlete. To give the next generation of local athletes the chance to fulfil their full potential, Richards has collaborated with The Brydens Group to provide equipment and products to the 2025 Carifta athletics team. A 78-member TT Carifta team was announced by the National Association of Athletics Administration on April 10.

Sports NAPARIMA College booked a spot in the final of the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League Intercol T20 competition with a 22-run win over St Mary's College at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Balmain, Couva, on April 10. Batting first, "Naps" posted a modest 117/6 in 20 overs. Naparima got off to the worst possible start as they were reduced to 7/3 in the second over as St Mary's bowler Nathan Sancho grabbed two early wickets.

Sports The coach who guided Trinidad and Tobago to the pinnacle of international football has died. Dutchman Leo Beenhakker, who helped the Soca Warriors qualify for the 2006 Fifa World Cup in Germany, has died at the age of 82. The 2006 World Cup is the only time TT featured at the tournament. When Beenhakker took over the coaching duties, the goal of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup seemed like an impossible task. Beenhakker proved he had the magic touch, turning around the campaign.
